TEEEEEEEBOOOOOWWWW!!!!! Mr. Miracle himself Timmy Tebow achieved the unachievable last night with the Denver Broncos’ OT thriller over the defending AFC Champ Pittsburgh Steelers. Although the home team the Broncos came into the game the heavy underdog mainly because of their starting QB because no one believed he could get it done after a bad 3 game skid that had Denver limping into the play-offs, but they pulled it off. How? letting Tebow throw, he had 316 passing yards on the day and connected for 3 TD’s the biggest one coming on the first play of overtime. Tebow hit Demaryius Thomas on a play-action fake on the first play from scrimmage in overtime and Thomas stiff armed Ike Taylor and let his legs do the rest for an 80 yard catch and sprint touchdown that won the game. This was a vindicating moment in the world of Tebow supporters and as Skip Bayless likes to put it “All He Does Is Win Football Games!” With such a big play, on such a huge stage, for such a polarizing player I had to include a few photos, one of the actual goal line cross, one of the play-breaking stiff arm, and one of Mr. Overtime himself Tim Tebow.

#ThrowbackThursday is the current trending topic on twitter and what better way to express it than with a throwback game winner from the depths of my heart? On December 1, 2002 Michael Vick scampered 46 yards through, literally through, the Minnesota Vikings defense in Minneapolis in overtime to get the win. This was one of the most incredible plays I have ever witnessed in my life, and for anyone who needs a refresher click here . The post-prison Mike Vick may be a “better” all around QB, but he has definitely lost the “You must keep your eyes on me at all times because I can take it to the house whenever I want to regardless of how you defend me” factor. I am no longer a Michael Vick fan, in fact I hate Michael Vick. Not because of the terrible crimes against humanity he committed, but because of the terrible crimes against Atlanta he committed. We loved you Mike Vick, we would have supported you through almost anything, but then you had to commit these crimes and then lie to us about it.. Why Michael, Why?!?!? Yes this is written like a love-scorned ex-girlfriend, and that is exactly how I feel.

Let me preface this post with the statement that a good basketball game is a good basketball game. With that said I ask you to check out this close contest between Stephen F Austin and Texas State out of the Southland Conference that ended on Hal Bateman’s triple with 0.05 seconds left. No Michigan State/Wisconsin here it was a legit 3 with a legit five-tenths of a second on the clock above the basket that gave SF Austin a big conference win. Congratulations Mr. Bateman, great shot!

Hollis, Hollis!!! (ja rule voice) Ya I went there, so what, how many other times in my life will I be able to write (ja rule voice)? Well if Hollis Thompson keeps up his late game production, hopefully a whole lot more!!! Now this is not the typical shot that makes it on to The Winning Shot because I try to reserve the site for scores under 10 seconds or in sudden death, but this post is more a testament to the Georgetown Hoya’s amazing comeback capped by this shot than the slow game winner night. Down 17 points with just over 13 minutes left to play Georgetown started a furious comeback all culminated with this shot by Hollis Thompson to down Big East rival Marquette! Frans Nielsen (spelled correctly this time) again with the game winning shootout shot to lift the clearly rich with tradition, pageantry, and what should be recognized as the greater hockey team in New York, the Islanders, to a victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. And with this field goal, I announce thee redeemed, Brendan Gibbons’ overtime field goal in the Allstate Sugar Bowl brings Michigan football all the way back to BCS blessings from the lows of Appalachian State losses. In what may have been billed as the “least likely for anyone to really want to watch” BCS bowl it sure did turn out a dandy. Although it wasn’t as flashy as Denard Robinson wins of the past it was still a great game and nothing signifies that better than a game winning field goal in OT.

Luol Deng drops in the game winning lay-up over Joe “Sleepy” Johnson to cap off a 19-point fourth quarter comeback for the Chicago Bulls over MY Atlanta Hawks. Fresh off of handing Miami their first loss of the season the Hawks couldn’t keep the magic going against the Bulls and came up just short. Kudos to D. Rose and company, who scored 17 of his 30 in the fourth to lead the comeback.

Bobby Butler of the Ottawa Senators with the shootout goal on Jhonas Enroth and the Buffalo Sabres on New Years Eve! As I stated in my previous post, the Senators are making a strong case for the Number 1 OT/SO team on The Winning Shot. Here they are bringing in 2012 with a victory dropping the Sabres to .500 on the season. As for Buffalo, my condolences, if there was a sports apocalypse in 2012 I would bet that it would start in either Buffalo or Cleveland, two of the most downtrodden sports cities in America.

Ottawa Senators’ Daniel Alfredsson nets the puck for the ovetime victory over Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils. I have previously stated that the Los Angeles Kings were Number 1 in OT/SO games since I have started this blog, but the Senators are making a strong case to supplant them. Something I like about this photo is how the focus seems to be on goalie Martin Brodeur and it comes of as more of a “HaHa You Lose” photograph versus a “Sweet We Won” photo… anyways enjoy!
